Augusta Margaret River SES Cadets
We also have a very active Emergency Service Cadet Corps based at the Margaret River Senior High School.
The MRSHS Cadets have been running since 1997 when teacher, Martin Keen, established corp.
With the assistance from various emergency service groups the cadets are offered the opportunity to experience the training and work carried out by all emergency service agencies. Throughout the years many cadets have taken up this chance and they have joined the group that they have found an affinity with.
The SES has benefited from this with many young people joining and bringing a youthful outlook to the unit. The cadet’s benefit from the exposure to a variety of situations and the positive mentoring and encouragement they receive from the experienced members of the unit.
From an instructors point of view it is a very worthwhile challenge to assist the cadets in finding their feet in a somewhat demanding curriculum and the looks of pride and achievement of reaching milestones either large or small make it all worthwhile.
